ORI – Study of interest

With the beginning of March 2020, the Osteopathie Schule Deutschland (OSD) and the Osteopathic Research Institute (ORI) initiate the bimonthly study of interest newsletter.

Herein, we present two articles of interest to the osteopathic profession each month. The osteopathic community is invited to participate by submitting published and in press articles of peer-reviewed scientific journals to:

We appreciate studies from all research disciplines. However, bear in mind that we only present studies to the community that are of interest to the osteopathic field.

We start off with an article by Torsten Liem and Winfried Neuhuber recently published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association (March 2020). In this article, the authors introduce an osteopathic approach to psychoemotional trauma by means of bifocal integration. They briefly discuss mind-body therapies and neuropsychophysiological frameworks, like the polyvagal theory, and introduce clinical applicability respecting top-down and bottom-up mechanisms in diagnosis and treatment. This research, thus, provides interesting theoretical and clinical insights about an osteopathic approach to psychoemotional trauma.
